The first 17 units are training units, and the last 3 units are mock exams. The entire book is accompanied by listening scripts, answers, and audio tapes. Through scientific and reasonable training and simulated practice, candidates can quickly familiarize themselves with the question types of IELTS Listening, comprehensively master problem-solving techniques, and thereby enhance their exam-taking abilities and confidence in achieving high scores. This book, tailored to the requirements of the IELTS exam, combines the question types, content, and difficulty levels of past IELTS Listening tests to design and compile 20 training units. Among them, Units 1 to 17 are training units, through which candidates can become familiar with and improve their exam-taking skills and abilities; Units 18 to 20 are mock exam units, where candidates can fully experience and understand the content and techniques of the IELTS Listening exam through realistic simulated practice, thereby boosting their confidence in achieving high scores. Practical IELTS Listening is suitable for IELTS candidates preparing for the exam and candidates taking other English tests, as well as serving as a self-training textbook for listening skills for overseas training programs. The entire book includes listening scripts and answers.
1. To answer quickly, use abbreviations or symbols instead of full spelling. Since there is time to write down answers after the formal listening exam, you can improve spelling and other grammatical errors when the tape stops recording the answers.
2. Maintain confidence and good psychological quality. Even if some questions are difficult to understand, don’t panic and let it affect your listening and answering in the following sections.
3. Focus from the beginning. Don’t assume that the earlier sections are relatively simple, so you listen to the recording and answer questions casually, as this will affect your efficiency.
4. Try to understand and adapt to the various question types of IELTS Listening before training, and gain a preliminary understanding of the content you will hear.
5. Pay attention to regular English reading. Read more and expose yourself to various English elements, which will improve your listening comprehension skills.
