Features: Build era common sense, enjoy a wise life, absorb the essence of knowledge, and appreciate the demeanor of masters. At noon on July 9, 2001, when ordinary university students packed their backpacks and left the classroom, a special and open "university" quietly began its classes. Its uniqueness lies in its educational philosophy: "lectures by renowned experts at home and abroad, covering scientific, humanistic, and social content." Its educational concept is: "gathering knowledge elites, sharing educational resources, spreading modern culture, and promoting the spirit of science and humanity." Its pursuit is: "combining rationality and practicality, emphasizing authority and avant-garde, pursuing academic innovation, encouraging individual thinking, advocating enjoyment for both the refined and the popular, and valuing interactive communication." Its educational goal is: "building era common sense, enjoying a wise life." Its openness is demonstrated by: "no entrance exams or tests, no age or identity restrictions; a passion for knowledge is the only requirement for enrollment." Which "university" is this? "One Hundred Lectures." Where is "One Hundred Lectures"? CCTV Channel 10. Highly advanced television technology has given humanity a shortcut, allowing us to have such a close connection with knowledge! The names of Yang Zhenning, Lee Tsung-Dao, Ding Zhongzhang, Zhou Ruchang, Ye Jiaying, Bai Chunli, Li Yining, Feng Jicai, and Long Yingtai are passed on on the stage built by light and shadow, conveying the spirit of humanity. This spirit is the driving force for the continuation of civilization and the foundation of human survival. Let knowledge be tangible, let thoughts be touchable, and let scholars from around the world share the same experience in the sacred hall of light and shadow—possessing knowledge is indeed a blessing. After more than a thousand sunrises and sunsets, the greatest achievement of "One Hundred Lectures" is over seven hundred heavy tapes. Seven hundred forty-five-minute segments should be considered a considerable duration for a television program, especially when it records the essence of human thought. How can we promote and spread these essence of human thought? We thought of publishing, which is a way that is both collectible and convenient for study. Thanks to the strong support of China Renmin University Press, we selected the content of five hundred lectures to produce CDs and publish them in series; at the same time, we published nearly thirty related books to meet the diverse knowledge-seeking needs of those who love knowledge. China Renmin University Press has called this "major move" a "great achievement" in 2004, and we should sincerely express our gratitude for their hard work. Viewers and readers, let us shake hands in the inheritance of knowledge!
