To learn English well, one must first master a certain number of words and oral expressions. To help primary school students quickly get into the state of English learning, we have specifically organized experts to compile this New English-Chinese Dictionary (Primary School Edition). The purpose of compiling this dictionary is to follow the language cognitive model of primary school students and the regularity of mother tongue learning, enabling young readers to learn English step by step and achieve synchronized improvement in language and knowledge. To help primary school students better master English words, we have specially invited Teacher Tu Zhiping from the Xi'an Academy of Fine Arts to provide illustrations for the dictionary, making the pages more lively while also giving students a visual sense of the words they are learning. This dictionary includes more than 1,500 common words, slightly increasing from the vocabulary requirements set by the Education Commission, with most of the additional words being those frequently encountered in daily life by primary school students. In terms of English definitions, it primarily uses vocabulary that primary school students are expected to master. For example sentences, based on the cognitive level of primary school students, some common examples are selected, with sentences kept as simple as possible and content aligned with their daily cognitive understanding. The translation strives for accuracy and conciseness to help students master words in a short period of time.
