Features: This book attempts to highlight the following characteristics in the guidance and theoretical framework of the discipline:
First, guided by the perspective of practical materialism, it systematically explores the objectivity, contradiction, and dialectical unity of the relationship between humans and nature, as well as the possibility of mutual coordination and sustainable development. Second, it examines scientific and technological activities as fundamental human practices and cognitive activities, encompassing unified perceptual experience, theoretical creation, and scientific application. It systematically discusses the general processes and mechanisms of the occurrence and development of scientific practice and cognitive activities, investigates the interpenetration and unity of subjects and objects, sensibility and rationality, experience and theory, scientific theory and technological practice, as well as related issues in scientific and technological methodologies. Third, it strives to break through the traditional disciplinary framework of certain previous dialectics of nature textbooks, which separated natural philosophy, scientific philosophy, and methodology into three distinct "blocks." It attempts to demonstrate the unity of relationships such as humans and nature, subjects and objects, experience and theory, and facts and values in each section. Fourth, it seeks to transcend the constraints of traditional natural philosophy and anthropocentric philosophical views, emphasizing in a series of major theoretical and practical issues the shared goals and values of humans and nature, the mutual constraints and coordinated development of nature and human society, as well as the cross-fertilization and integration of scientific and humanistic cultures.
