Features: "Nie Hongjun's Memoirs and Writings" was written by his father, Nie Hongjun, in 1955, the year he turned 50. After that, until his death in 1956, he continued to write various materials such as interviews, reflections, study notes, and commentary on current affairs. He was deeply passionate about learning throughout his life and never ceased writing even while suffering from illness, leaving behind a wealth of manuscripts and a large amount of calligraphy and ink works. This book compiles some of his self-reports and speech drafts, but does not include his diaries or posthumous memories and tributes. Even so, it has become a substantial volume. The entire book is free of self-praise or exaggerated embellishment, instead recording his steps, experiences, the true history he witnessed, as well as his mistakes and regrets in a simple and straightforward manner. At first, we were concerned that his self-reported writings might be too plain and overly focused on constant self-reflection, making it difficult to showcase his achievements. However, upon reflection, this is precisely the charm of his upright and incorruptible character. He believed in the Party and the people, leaving success or failure, and right or wrong to be judged by others, as he stated in a report in 1956: "Historical facts are ultimately facts and cannot be changed." Today, when everyone emphasizes the importance of historical accuracy, we believe history will give him an objective and truthful evaluation. In fact, much of what we know about our father comes from the introductions and evaluations of others.
