Patient's question:
Detailed medical condition and consultation purpose:Hello!
Thank you for your response.
I still have a question to ask you. You mentioned that physical therapy and medication should be used simultaneously, but I saw online that the possibility of giving birth through physical therapy is very low. I’m still very worried. Can traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and Western medicine be used together for treatment, and then undergo physical therapy after giving birth?
But I’m still worried about her condition worsening. I’m so confused, doctor!
Can cervical erosion cause foot swelling?
If physical therapy is used, which one...
Doctor's answer:
Hello, there are many treatment methods for cervical erosion, and appropriate choices can be made based on the degree of erosion. The main methods are as follows:(1)Medication: For small erosion areas with superficial inflammation, the following medication treatments can be used:
① 10–20% silver nitrate: Applied locally once a week, with 2–4 applications constituting one course.
② Potassium permanganate: Applied locally after menstruation, followed by a repeat application after 1–2 months. When using these medications, careful operation is required to prevent burns to the surrounding vaginal wall, and sterilization should be noted during application to prevent reinfection.
(2)Physical therapy: Used for larger erosion areas with deeper inflammation.
① Electrocautery: A specialized electrocautery device is used to burn the erosion tissue, causing it to necrose and fall off. It must reach a certain depth for effective treatment.
② Cryotherapy: A specialized rapid-freezing device is used to freeze, necrose, and detach the diseased tissue on the cervical erosion area. Liquid nitrogen is commonly used as the cryogen, lowering the temperature of the cryotherapy device’s tip to -196°C. It is placed on the surface of the cervix to freeze and necrose the erosion tissue, leading to its detachment and the growth of new squamous epithelial tissue. One session is usually sufficient for healing. Generally, there are no adverse reactions, though some patients may experience mild dizziness or lower abdominal pain.
③ Laser therapy: Carbon dioxide laser treatment devices are commonly used. A specialized laser treatment head is applied to the erosion tissue on the cervix, causing it to carbonize, form a scab, and fall off, followed by the growth of new squamous epithelial tissue. One session is usually sufficient for healing. There is no special discomfort during the procedure, though some patients may experience bleeding when the scab falls off.
