John Thompson's Easy Piano Course (1)

Features: The intention of this tutorial is to provide students with an easy and effortless method for learning the piano. The range of notes covered in each book is consciously limited. Only five notes above and five notes below Middle C are introduced, and the duration of notes ranges from whole notes to quarter notes, without further expansion. This allows for the inclusion of many examples presented in a review format, eliminating the need for additional supplementary materials. In summary, each book in this series maintains its own completeness, with its own writing exercises, sight-reading exercises, and review pieces. Technique exercises will also be added in later books. Most examples in the book are accompanied by accompaniment scores for teachers and parents. They are carefully crafted to make simple pieces sound as much like fragments of larger-scale compositions as possible. This approach offers many benefits. Not only does it allow for playing in different keys, avoiding the monotony of always staying in C Major, but it also enables teachers and parents to influence students with their own strict tempo and clear rhythm, especially when they play with vibrant beat accents, helping students "feel" the rhythm from the very beginning. Each book in this series does not represent a specific level. They are simply divided into Book 1, Book 2, Book 3, and Book 4 in order. The division of the course is not based on page units. Some students can master many pages in one lesson, while others may only learn one page. The content of this tutorial is designed to be "incremental" rather than "lesson-by-lesson." How much each student can understand and absorb in one lesson is entirely up to the teacher, as only they are qualified to make that determination.
