Features: Wumen Shi Hua He Xiao is a work on poetry discussions, recording many poems and anecdotes of poets from the Qianlong and Jiaqing periods. It reflects the state of the poetic scene during that time and provides certain assistance in studying Qing Dynasty poetry creation and poetry theory. Wumen Shi Hua was written by the Qing Dynasty poet Fa Shishan (1753–1813). Fa Shishan's original name was Junchang, courtesy name Kaiwen, styled Shifan, and also known as Wumen, Shikuan, and Taolu. He was of the Erji clan of the Mongol ethnicity and belonged to the Zhenghuang banner of the Inner Court. After passing the imperial examination in the 45th year of the Qianlong reign (1780), he was granted the name "Fa Shishan" by the emperor, meaning "diligent" in Manchu. Wumen Shi Hua exists in two versions: one is the Qing Dynasty Jinxueqi manuscript held by the National Library of China, consisting of twelve volumes (with volumes 1 to 7, volume 12, and several unnumbered); the other is the handwritten draft by Fa Shishan held by the Central Library of Taiwan, consisting of sixteen volumes (complete).
