Features: Cao Li, born in 1978, enrolled in the Oil Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts. In 1982, after graduation, he remained as a teaching assistant in the Mural Department. In 1984, he participated in the "Mural Teachers' Exhibition" at the Central Academy of Fine Arts Exhibition Hall. In 1985, he took part in the "November Art Exhibition" at the east wing of the Meridian Gate in the Forbidden City. In 1986, he created oil paintings such as "Village Girl" (collected by Chen Yifei), "Pastoral Boy" (collected by the National Art Museum of China), "Pastoral Scene" (collected by the Fuxing Hotel), "Love," "Colorful Clouds," "Red Flashback" (private collection in Japan), and the series "Horses" (private collection in the United States). He also participated in the "Contemporary Oil Paintings of China" exhibition at the National Art Museum of China and the "Beijing International Art Garden Oil Painting Exhibition." In 1987, he became a lecturer in the Mural Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts. He created oil paintings such as "Light Rain" and "By the Lake" (private collection in Japan) and participated in the "Towards the Future" art exhibition at the National Art Museum of China and the "Contemporary Oil Paintings of China" exhibition at HEFNER Gallery in New York, USA. In 1988, he created oil paintings such as "Twilight," "Morning and Evening," "Dream," "Mother and Child," "Nature" (private collection in Japan), "Circus," and "Black and White" (private collection in Taiwan). He participated in the "Five-Person Joint Exhibition" at EFNER Gallery in New York, USA, held a personal exhibition titled "Cao Li Oil Paintings · Clay Pot Works" at the Central Academy of Fine Arts Gallery, and took part in the "First Sketch Exhibition of Young and Middle-aged Teachers of the Central Academy of Fine Arts" and the "Oil Painting Human Figure Art Exhibition" at the National Art Museum of China. In 1989, he held his second personal exhibition at Longmen Gallery in Taipei, and "Impressions of a Small Town" was exhibited at the National Art Museum of China as part of the "Seventh National Fine Arts Exhibition" (private collection in Germany). In 1990, he created oil paintings such as "Paradise," "Surprise," "Field" (private collection in Singapore), "Under the Tree of Wooden Notes" (private collection in the United States), "Mysterious Wall" (private collection in Spain), and the series "Portraits" (private collection in the United States). He participated in the "Teacher Biennial Exhibition" at the Central Academy of Fine Arts Exhibition Hall. In 1991, he created oil paintings such as the series "Portraits," the series "Masquerade," "Youth" (private collection in Spain), and twelve miniature oil paintings (private collection of an American). He participated in the "China Modern Art Exhibition" at the Kakehashi Lake Art Museum in Japan, the "Mural Department Teacher Works Collection" at the Academy of Fine Arts Exhibition Hall, and the "March 1991 Art Exhibition." His oil paintings "Gourd Tree" and "Southern Fairy Tale" were included in the "Contemporary Oil Paintings of China" auction by Taikoo Huaqi Company in Hong Kong. He traveled to Spain for research at the end of the year. In 1992, he became an associate professor at the Central Academy of Fine Arts. He participated in the "20th Century, China" art exhibition at the National Art Museum of China and held his third and fourth personal exhibitions at the cultural centers in Madrid, Gijon, and the two cities of Barakaldo and Portugalete in Spain, respectively. That same year, he traveled to Paris, France, for research. His oil paintings "Red Bird," "Three-Leaf Clover Flag," and "Sunflower" were included in the "Contemporary Oil Paintings of China" auction by Taikoo Huaqi Company in Hong Kong. Hunan Fine Arts Publishing House published his personal art book "Selected Modern Line Drawings of China—Cao Li Works Collection," and his oil paintings "Awakening of Insects" and "Southern Town" (private collection in the United States) were published. In 1993, he participated in the "1993 China Oil Painting Annual Exhibition" and the "China Oil Painting Biennial Exhibition" at the National Art Museum of China. This art book collects various major works, sketches, charcoal drawings, line drawing drafts, small works, sculptures, and oil paintings of Mr. Cao Li over the past 30 years.
