Patient's question:
I have a fungal vaginal infection. How should I treat it?Onset and duration of this illness: 2 years
Current general condition: Abundant white discharge with a curd-like appearance, occasional itching
Previous diagnosis and treatment history and effectiveness: Clotrimazole suppositories, Dingjunsheng capsules, Qingre Qizhi wash.
Doctor's answer:
Candidal vulvovaginitis is prone to recurrence and can be transmitted between partners. It is a common type of vaginitis, usually caused by Candida albicans. The main symptoms are itching or burning pain in the external genitalia. During the acute phase, there is an increase in vaginal discharge, which appears as curd-like or cottage cheese-like. Pay attention to external genital hygiene to prevent cross-infection. Use antibiotics and hormones reasonably.Treatment:
1. Use alkaline solutions such as 2–4% sodium bicarbonate or soapy water to rinse the external genitalia and vagina, altering the vaginal pH to make it unfavorable for fungal growth. After rinsing, insert miconazole tablets or suppositories into the vagina, with a dose of 100,000–200,000 units per time, once daily, for a course of 10–14 days. Additionally, apply 3% clotrimazole cream to the external genitalia for better results.
2. Use Daktar suppositories externally.
3. Fluconazole can also be used for treatment.
During treatment, avoid sexual intercourse and change clean, disinfected underwear daily. Follow up after the menstrual period.
