The World Economy Yearbook was first published in 1979. It has successively compiled and published volumes for 1979, 1981, 1982, 1983–1984, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999/2000, and 2001. This edition of the World Economy Yearbook includes 15 sections: Comprehensive Reports on the World Economy; National (Regional) Economies; International Economic Organizations and Activities; World Industry; World Agriculture; World Trade; International Finance; World Science and Technology; World Tourism; World Environmental Protection; Business of Countries (Regions); Domestic and Foreign Industrial and Commercial Enterprises; China Economic Encyclopedia; Window on China's Economy; and Statistical Compilation of the World Economy. The statistical data of the World Economy Yearbook is authoritative, primarily sourced from publications of the United Nations and other important international economic organizations, relevant economic reports and official statistics of governments worldwide, as well as newspapers and periodicals from various countries. Systematic statistical data and some key data cited in the book are clearly referenced. Due to differences in the sources of statistical data for each section of the World Economy Yearbook, although efforts have been made to correct and unify them during the editorial process, inconsistencies may still occur. The World Economy Yearbook is sponsored by the Institute of World Economy and Politics, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and edited by the Editorial Department of the World Economy Yearbook.
