The nipple discharge you are experiencing may be considered as galactophagy, which can manifest in the following symptoms:(1) Breast pain: Often or , or , . Severe pain may make it unbearable to touch, even affecting daily life and work. The pain is primarily centered around the breast lump but may also radiate to the axilla, costal area, or shoulder blades on the affected side. Some may experience nipple pain or itching. Breast pain often appears a few days before menstruation or worsens, then significantly or disappear after menstruation. The pain may also fluctuate with emotional changes. This pain related to the menstrual cycle and emotional changes is a key characteristic of breast hyperplasia.
(2) Breast lumps: Lumps may occur in one or both breasts, singly or multiple, most commonly in the outer upper quadrant but also in other quadrants. The shapes of the lumps include,,,, with being most frequent. The boundaries are unclear, with a medium or slightly firm texture, good mobility, and no adhesion to surrounding tissues. The lumps vary in size, ranging from small as a grain of rice to large over 3–4 cm. Breast lumps also show changes with the menstrual cycle, enlarging and hardening before menstruation and shrinking and softening afterward.
(3) Nipple discharge: A few patients may experience spontaneous nipple discharge, which is pale yellow or brown serous fluid.
