Features: The third part of this book is titled "Standardization Chapter." Adhering to the standards of linguistic and literary norms is one of the most important issues in dictionary compilation, especially for standardized dictionaries. The Modern Chinese Dictionary aims to promote Mandarin and facilitate the standardization of Chinese, making creative efforts in implementing linguistic and literary standards. Since its publication, it has played a positive role in the standardization of Chinese that is undeniable. In recent years, some confusing understandings have emerged regarding how to implement linguistic and literary standards, which have misled people and had an adverse impact on dictionary compilation. The papers "Establishing a Correct View of Linguistic and Literary Standards" and "Linguistic Standardization Standards and the Compilation of Standardized Character and Word Dictionaries" were written in response to these vague understandings. The fourth part is "Dream of the Red Chamber Chapter." In the 1980s, I co-compiled the Dream of the Red Chamber Dictionary with the renowned redologist Zhou Ruchang, spending a total of six years on it. This experience sparked a great interest in the language of Dream of the Red Chamber in me. I conducted comparative research on the language of Dream of the Red Chamber in two aspects: comparing the language of the era of Dream of the Red Chamber with modern Chinese, and comparing the language of the original work by Cao Xueqin with the language of the continuator and reviser Gao E. Both aspects of comparative research yielded fruitful results.
