Features: Orthopedic Surgery has been published twice by People's Medical Press and has played a significant role in advancing the development of orthopedic clinical work in China. This book has become an authoritative monograph in the field of orthopedic surgery in China, awarded multiple national prizes, and has a cumulative circulation of over 100,000 copies. It is a best-selling and academic classic widely welcomed by orthopedic surgeons and researchers. Since the second edition was published in 1998, another 7 years have passed. During this time, orthopedic surgery has seen rapid advancements, especially in new materials and technologies, while some outdated surgical methods have been abandoned. To more comprehensively reflect the new level of modern orthopedic development in China and better guide the clinical work of orthopedic surgeons, People's Medical Press organized a comprehensive revision of this book for its second edition. The revised third edition of Orthopedic Surgery is presented in the form of chapters, divided into nine parts, with the division of content primarily based on the classification of professional groups. Some more difficult-to-classify chapters are categorized into the ninth part. In the selection process for contributors to the third edition, the original authors of the second edition who are still active in orthopedic clinical and research lines were retained, and over 20 middle-aged and young experts who are leading figures or at the forefront in their respective fields in China were added as new contributors to the third edition. The hope is that their participation will bring fresh energy to the third edition, making it more dynamic. Based on the second edition of Orthopedic Surgery, this book focuses on introducing the surgical methods and techniques of basic orthopedic operations, while incorporating new methods and perspectives from recent years. For example, in the field of trauma orthopedics, the shift from AO to BO concepts; the use of minimally invasive plates and intramedullary nails; the treatment of pelvic and acetabular fractures; new content in joint replacement revision surgery; the application of new instruments for scoliosis and spondylolisthesis, as well as artificial discs; and new applications of orthopedic endoscopic surgery (such as spinal decompression under thoracoscopy and ligament reconstruction under arthroscopy of the knee, etc.). Methods that are less commonly used currently have been appropriately shortened in length. The third edition of Orthopedic Surgery emphasizes "scientific rigor, advanced technology, and practicality" in its writing style and reflects the latest advanced techniques, materials, and practical experiences in orthopedic surgery. This book highlights practicality, with clear descriptions of surgical key points, rich illustrations, and includes prevention and management of surgical complications and unexpected incidents. It meets the general routine surgical needs of orthopedic doctors at the primary and intermediate levels, serves as a must-have advanced reference for senior orthopedic surgeons, and is a primary reference for medical students, graduate students, and professionals in related fields such as neurosurgery, rehabilitation medicine, and sports medicine.
