Can women with uterine fibroids have children?

Patient's question:

I didn't know I had uterine fibroids before. On January 3rd, I discovered that a uterine fibroid had fallen out of my vaginal opening. It would only drop out if I squatted for a long time. Normally, it wouldn't fall down. Last month, towards the end of the month, it was supposed to be my period, but for those days, I had brown discharge and thought it was just my period. After discovering the fibroid, I couldn't squat for too long or exert too much force. Squatting for too long or too forcefully could cause tearing. Yesterday, I had a thorough check-up and found out I was about 40 days pregnant. The doctor said it had all fallen outside the vulva and recommended surgery, but I want to have children.

Doctor's answer:

Considering your current situation, it is still recommended to follow your primary doctor's advice and undergo hospitalization for surgical treatment. Otherwise, it may interfere with the child's growth and development. In the later stages, there is a possibility of miscarriage and other issues, making it difficult to carry the pregnancy to full term. Laparoscopic surgery should be considered for treating the condition before deciding to have a child. The above suggestions are for the question "I didn't know I had uterine fibroids before and only discovered them on January 3rd." I hope this helps you. Wishing you good health!
