Features: Our common enemy is the HIV virus, not AIDS patients. AIDS is a behavioral disease. Approximately every 5 seconds, someone in the world is infected with HIV. Currently, AIDS cannot be cured. Women are increasingly threatened by the HIV virus. The HIV virus can be transmitted from parents to children. HIV mainly exists in human body fluids. To prevent AIDS, wear condoms. Since the reform and opening-up, with the rapid advancement of industrialization, urbanization, and modernization in China, millions of young women workers have gathered from all parts of the country to the Pearl River Delta region across the sea. With their hard work, they have made significant contributions to the rapid economic and social development. At the same time, they also face numerous challenges and difficulties in survival and development, requiring sincere care and support from society. Since 2000, we—the faculty members of Guangdong Women's Vocational and Technical College—have formed a training team, working together with local communities and workers to carry out the Pearl River Delta Migrant Women Workers Training Project. We provide services and support to the women workers in terms of law, rights, health, safety, and development. The Women Workers Peer Education Series is a product of this project's training practices. It serves as both a basic textbook for peer education and a simple reading material for women workers' self-study.
