Features: Tao Xingzhi was a great social reformer and a pioneer in promoting modernization in China in the 20th century. He insisted on advancing continuous modernization through the progressive life education philosophy. He loved the people, devoted himself wholeheartedly, combined hands and brains, and dared to innovate. His contributions and achievements to the motherland and humanity were multifaceted. From the Complete Works, it can be seen that he covered a wide range of fields, such as political systems, economic development, social morals, international exchanges, science popularization, ethnic unity, religious beliefs, environmental protection, and family planning, all of which he discussed in depth. Tao Xingzhi was also a great people's poet, whose popularized poetry "pioneered a new trend." The Complete Works includes over 800 of his poems, though not all have been collected. Of course, the most prominent is the life education theory he founded. The well-known concepts of "life is education," "society is a school," and "teaching, learning, and doing in unison," as well as the universal education, lifelong education, creative education, and democratic education he advocated, along with his exemplary moral character, are so closely aligned with the reality and future direction of our country. The Complete Works of Tao Xingzhi consists of 12 volumes. Volumes 1 to 4 are [Essays and Works]; Volume 5 is [Textbooks]; Volume 6 is [English Writings and Translations]; Volume 7 is [Poetry]; Volume 8 is [Letters]; Volume 9 is [Index of Letter Writers]; Volume 10 is divided into [Administrative Memoranda, Part 1 and Part 2]; Volumes 11 and 12 are [Supplementary Materials 1 and 2]. This volume is the poetry collection, gathering 643 of the author's poems from 1918 to 1916. Part of this volume includes five collections edited and published by the author during his lifetime: The Collection of Knowledge and Action Poetry, The Continued Collection of Knowledge and Action Poetry, The Separate Collection of Knowledge and Action Poetry, The Third Collection of Knowledge and Action Poetry, and The Collection of Knowledge and Action Poetry, totaling 309 poems and one article. The second part is a collection of poems outside these self-edited volumes, arranged in chronological order of publication, totaling 341 poems. Some poems originally belonged to parts of the author's letters, articles, or speeches. To avoid repetition as much as possible, they remain in the relevant volumes and have not been included in this volume. The couplets he wrote are included in 34 sets and placed at the end of this volume.
