Features: Zhang Hong, born in February 1945 in Tongxiang, Zhejiang, is currently a professor at the Department of Foreign Literature, School of Chinese Language and Literature, East China Normal University, and a doctoral supervisor in Comparative Literature and World Literature. He is also a research fellow at the Research Center for East Asian Culture, a member of the inaugural academic committee of the Cross-Cultural Research Center at Peking University, and a council member of the German Literature Research Association of the Chinese Society of Foreign Culture. Additionally, he served as a visiting scholar at Humboldt University in Berlin, Germany.
He has published six monographs, including My Muse Within—A Modern Interpretation of Western Literary Classics, Diversified Splendor of China under the Light of Authenticity—An Analysis of Western Existentialism in America, and Critical Confrontation at the Threshold—A Collection of Academic and Cultural Essays (1989-1999), among others. He has also translated four works, such as The Medieval Intellectuals, and has authored over 80 academic papers. His monographs and papers have been awarded by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, the Shanghai Municipal Government, and the (Feng Zhi).
