Features: The "Daily Health" series aims to provide middle school students with knowledge in areas such as health, safety, disease prevention, and health care, enabling them to maintain a healthy body, harmonious family life, and a strong sense of self-protection. It also helps them understand basic concepts of nutrition and insurance, allowing them to grow physically and mentally while expanding their knowledge and skills. As supplementary reading materials for high school English elective courses, this series not only broadens students' knowledge and cultural understanding of foreign countries but also stimulates their interest in reading and improves their language proficiency. The series consists of six volumes: "Personal Safety," "Physical Exercise," "Scientific Diet," "Personal Health Care," "Family Life," and "Insurance Basics."
"Personal Safety" focuses on preventing various accidents, such as fires, car crashes, sports injuries, and violent attacks. "Physical Exercise" covers how to maintain lifelong health, assess physical condition, improve physical fitness, adhere to regular exercise, and monitor progress. "Scientific Diet" discusses the basics of nutrition and diet, teaching students how to correct unhealthy eating habits, such as reading food labels and achieving a healthy weight. "Personal Health Care" explains the role of personal hygiene in maintaining health, disease prevention, and the causes, symptoms, and treatments of infectious diseases and sexually transmitted infections. "Family Life" analyzes the structure and function of families in modern society, including family types, relationships, and responsibilities. "Insurance Basics" highlights the necessity of health insurance for individuals and families, the operation of medical insurance, and the scope, costs, and requirements of various health insurance plans.
This series emphasizes content comprehension over grammar, so each lesson's learning objectives and exercises focus primarily on content with language as a secondary element. To help students overcome vocabulary challenges, each lesson includes word and phrase annotations with phonetics, part of speech, and Chinese translations. Additionally, the format of each volume's lessons remains consistent, primarily featuring Chinese and English titles, introductions, learning objectives, cultural background, main text, language points, exercises, and answers. The structure is clear and user-friendly.
The book is divided into three units, each consisting of three lessons and a unit review. The first unit focuses on personal hygiene, covering the care and maintenance of the skin, hair, nails, and teeth, as well as health issues to be aware of at home and school. The second unit emphasizes the correct understanding and prevention of common infectious diseases. The third unit focuses on sexually transmitted infections and AIDS, discussing their causes, dangers, and prevention methods. Corresponding self-assessment exercises are provided before and after each lesson for students to use.
