Additionally, a separate supplement is included. The book not only collects famous works and representative pieces from all dynasties but also emphasizes the inclusion of rare calligraphy masterpieces, particularly those newly discovered or unearthed in recent years. Each volume provides a concise introduction to the calligraphy art of its respective era and arranges the works into thematic units, each with a brief explanation. For the included works, details such as the era, title, author, dimensions, provenance, excavation date and location, and collection institution are provided where applicable. For difficult-to-decipher texts such as oracle bone script, bronze inscriptions, and cursive script, annotations are appended. During the Sui and Five Dynasties period, the book includes 197 calligraphy works such as inscriptions on stone, ink rubbings, and calligraphy collections.
