Features: 2005 was the year when the United Nations promoted the "Decade of Education for Sustainable Development." The book is divided into five chapters:
Chapter 1, "Policy and Documents of the 'Decade of Education for Sustainable Development'," includes the 254th resolution of the 57th United Nations General Assembly on implementing the "Decade of Education for Sustainable Development," the "International Implementation Plan for the Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (2005-2014)" of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and related documents on the "Decade of Education for Sustainable Development" by UNESCO. It reveals the background, objectives, core concepts, and implementation recommendations of the international "Decade of Education for Sustainable Development" plan.
Chapter 2, "Documents from International Conferences on Sustainable Development Education," comprehensively elaborates on the relationship between implementing "Education for Sustainable Development" and achieving the goals of the Dakar Conference and the "Millennium Development Goals" through speeches by UNESCO officials and scholars from different countries at international conferences, as well as action proposals from the first Beijing "International Forum on Sustainable Development Education." It also introduces key points for advancing "Education for Sustainable Development," the important role of education in promoting sustainable development, and trends in educational reform.
Chapter 3, "The Theory and Practice of Sustainable Development Education in Developing Countries (Regions)," and Chapter 4, "The Theory and Practice of Sustainable Development Education in Developed Countries (Regions)," review the historical progress and practical experiences of some developing and developed countries (regions) in promoting "Education for Sustainable Development."
Chapter 5, "Environmental Education and Sustainable Development in the Context of Lifelong Learning," explains the experiences of different countries in advancing sustainable development based on environmental education.
The main content of this book focuses on policy documents and theoretical research results related to sustainable development education from international organizations and some countries in recent years.
