Medical Formulas Collected and Explained

Author: (Qing) Wang Ang, compiled by Cai Xiuhua, annotated and edited by Li Lianzhang
Publisher:
Publishing Date: 2005-06-01
Features: To promote the traditional Chinese medicine of our country and meet the needs of a broad range of TCM practitioners and enthusiasts, a group of TCM experts were organized to rigorously select and comprehensively compile multiple versions, annotating and editing the "Series of Classical Medical Masterpieces" for publication. The principles of annotation and editing are as follows:
1. Modern punctuation methods are adopted to restructure the original text into paragraphs.
2. Obvious typographical errors in the source text are corrected. Variant characters, archaic characters, homophonic characters, and colloquial variants are simplified while preserving the original book's integrity.
3. Prescriptions in the original text are reorganized in modern format: [Indications], [Formula], [Usage], [Explanation]. The directional terms "left, right" in the original text are uniformly replaced with "upper, lower."
4. To maintain the original appearance of the source text, no changes are made to the dosage of medicinal ingredients. For heavily dosed toxic drugs, refer to modern dosages. Certain banned animal-derived drugs such as rhino horn, tiger bone, and musk should be replaced with modern alternatives.
5. Where discrepancies exist between various source texts and annotated editions, as multiple reference texts were used, the annotated edition does not provide explanations.
