What are the symptoms of pregnancy?

Patient's question:

Ask the doctor:
I had my period on October 9th, and my cycle is usually around 31 days. It hasn’t arrived yet. We had unprotected sex on the 25th and 22nd. Around late October, I felt hot palms, which lasted for about three days. Sometimes my lower abdomen feels slightly bloated. Last night, I took a pregnancy test because I didn’t know how to use it properly. I put the entire test strip in, and it only showed one line. Could I be pregnant? Or do I need to test again?

Doctor's answer:

1. Fatigue, sleepiness: After pregnancy, women generally exhibit symptoms of sleepiness and are easily tired, lacking energy for anything they do.
2. Nausea/Vomiting: When pregnancy progresses beyond the sixth week, women are prone to nausea and vomiting, especially in the morning on an empty stomach. Their sense of smell may also become highly sensitive, and unpleasant odors can trigger vomiting. Pregnant women need not worry, as this is a normal phenomenon.
3. Frequent urination: In the early stages of pregnancy, women may frequently feel the urge to urinate but find it difficult to empty their bladder. Don’t worry—this is because the uterus is gradually growing and pressing on the bladder.
4. Breast tenderness: Newly pregnant women may experience breast tenderness, itching, or a sense of fullness. As the breasts grow, small lumps may also appear. This is a natural part of becoming a mother.
5. Increased vaginal discharge: The increase in vaginal discharge is due to a rapid surge in hormones and is a normal occurrence.
6. Hunger: In the early stages of pregnancy, women often feel very hungry and have a constant desire to eat. This is normal, and a light, balanced diet is recommended.
