Patient's question:
Moderate cervical erosion, can it be cured through oral medication combined with topical application (or suppositories)? I haven't given birth yet, so I'm worried that physical therapy might affect my future fertility. Where is the best place to treat this, and what medication is recommended? I have tried Fuluo Decoction and Kangfu Special, but it seems they haven't been very effective. Thank you!Doctor's answer:
Hello: Medication is not very effective for cervical erosion of moderate or severe degree, and physical therapy methods are recommended.Considering the patient is not pregnant, cryotherapy is recommended.
Cryotherapy for cervical erosion has the advantages of being safe, simple, and highly effective. Through the local freezing effect of liquid nitrogen, the eroded tissue is necrotic and falls off, and new squamous epithelium covers the vaginal part of the cervix. Cryotherapy does not form scars, so it generally does not cause cervical stenosis and is more suitable for women who wish to conceive. Additionally, cryotherapy can cause local blood vessels to constrict, leading to hemostasis, so patients rarely bleed after treatment. Cryotherapy can also reduce nerve sensitivity, providing anesthesia and analgesia, making the treatment painless for the patient. However, after treatment, there may be more vaginal discharge, lasting for 2–3 weeks. During cryotherapy, peripheral resistance decreases, blood vessels dilate, which may cause temporary hypotension. The stimulation of ultra-low temperature can also lead to dysfunction of the vegetative nervous system, resulting in symptoms such as dizziness and lower abdominal pain. Therefore, if the patient has cardiovascular diseases, caution should be taken during treatment.
