Features: This book is one of the earliest existing medical classics in China, reflecting the achievements of ancient Chinese medicine and establishing the theoretical system of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). It has laid the foundation for the development of TCM and has continued to guide its progress until today, retaining significant research value. The book is compact in size, making it convenient for carrying and reading. To promote traditional Chinese medicine and meet the needs of medical workers and enthusiasts, a group of TCM experts was selected through rigorous screening to compile and publish the "Series of Classic Medical Masterpieces." The principles for compilation and annotation are as follows:
1. Modern punctuation is adopted to restructure the original text into paragraphs.
2. Obvious typographical errors in the original text are corrected. Variant characters, archaic characters, homophones, and colloquial variants are simplified while preserving the original text.
3. Prescriptions in the original text are reorganized in modern format: [Indications], [Formula], [Usage], [Explanation]. The directional terms "left and right" are uniformly replaced with "upper and lower."
4. To maintain the original text's integrity, no changes are made to dosage information. For heavily dosed toxic drugs, refer to modern dosages. Certain banned animal-derived drugs, such as rhino horn, tiger bone, and musk, should be replaced with modern alternatives.
5. Discrepancies between different base texts and annotations are not explicitly noted, as multiple base texts were referenced, and annotations do not specify variations.
