Gender of Tears

Features: Tears have a dual meaning. On one hand, tears signify pain, sorrow, and can even manifest as a pathological state of melancholy; on the other hand, tears reflect a person's thoughts, symbolizing contemplation and prayer, and are an epitome of a lofty inner world. At times, they can even serve as a means of communication with God. Which of these dualities will our era embrace? Tears are a form of communication. We no longer live in a society where physical strength prevails, but in a world that requires communication and connection. Today's society demands speaking, making phone calls, sending faxes, emailing, going online, and—crying. Men and women are equal. I would argue that the future of humanity is androgynous. Men must accept their feminine qualities, and women must embrace their masculine traits; both genders must acknowledge that they possess both animal instincts and spiritual aspects. We are the joint creation of God and the devil. Only men and women cry. Will the third millennium move you or leave you indifferent? People must communicate, or else there is only death. I am certainly not trying to contradict the great Fran?ois Rabelais, I merely want to declare clearly and loudly: crying is the very nature of men and women.
