Patient's question:
Detailed medical condition and consultation purpose: I was diagnosed with endometritis after an ultrasound. I underwent three days of microwave therapy, yellow medicine, and other intermittent treatments. The doctor prescribed Chrysanthemum and Senaoxin Si capsules for me. My period arrived two weeks later (on the 14th), but there was very little flow—when I went to the bathroom, a lot of blood would come out at once. The blood was dark in color and clumpy. I have stopped taking the medication for several days now. Please advise if I should continue taking the two prescribed medications. Perhaps the expert could also recommend a few related medications. Thank you!Onset and duration of the current illness: One month of amenorrhea last month
Current general condition: None
Doctor's answer:
Hello: Based on your condition, you should continue medication treatment and pay attention to rest and hygiene. When treating acute endometritis, routine bacterial culture and drug sensitivity tests are required to select effective antibiotics. Before the test results are available or if the test cannot be performed, you can use broad-spectrum antibiotics such as penicillin. After a negative skin test, penicillin 800,000 to 1,600,000 units should be administered intramuscularly twice daily. If the bacterial culture is aerobic bacteria, gentamicin should be used for intramuscular injection, 80,000 units each time, every 8 hours. If the culture results are anaerobic bacteria, metronidazole is more suitable, taken orally 0.4 grams each time, three times daily. If acute endometritis occurs postpartum or after an abortion, it is necessary to consider whether there is still placenta or fetal membrane residue in the uterine cavity. If residual tissue remains in the uterine cavity, it should be removed after controlling the infection for 48 to 72 hours, and a thorough uterine clearance should be performed once the condition stabilizes. Postoperatively, oxytocin 10 units should be administered intramuscularly, and oral preparations such as Eryngo Root Paste or Shenghua Decoction should be taken to promote uterine contraction. Antibiotics should still be continued. If the patient has an intrauterine device (IUD), it should be removed as soon as possible. If the patient has submucosal uterine fibroids or polyps, surgical treatment is also required, and antibiotics alone should not be relied upon.
