It has since expanded to include programs such as "On-the-Spot Witness," "Legal Hotline," "On-the-Spot Confrontation," "Legal Chronicle," "On-the-Spot Tips," "Legal Network Tracking," and "Public Security Broadcast." Currently, about 1.5 million viewers in Beijing regularly tune in to the program at noon every day, and the column receives over 60,000 enthusiastic viewer calls each month. According to the 2004 China Central Television—SOFRES survey on the viewing rates of national news and special topic programs, "Legal Progress" ranked third among all television news and special topic programs in China.
The honors received by "Legal Progress" include:
- In 2001, it was awarded the title of "National Outstanding Youth Rights Protection Post" by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League.
- It was recognized as the "National Advanced Production Team" by the China Radio and Television Society.
- In 2002, "Hostage Taking at the West Railway Station" won the Second Prize of the China News Award and the First Prize of the National Social Security Comprehensive Governance Good News Award.
- It received the First Prize of the Beijing Television Column Award for 2002.
- In 2003, it won the First Prize in the Special Program Category of the Ninth China Radio and Television Society Television Legal Program Award.
- It was awarded the First Prize of the Outstanding Television Column Award by the Beijing Radio and Television Society.
- It received the First Prize in the Column Category of the Seventh National Legal Drama Film and Television Festival (Golden Sword Award).
- In 2004, the Spring Festival Special Program "Exposing Scams" won the "Yudiading" Cup Most Popular Spring Festival Special Program award.
- It was named one of the "Top Ten Famous Television Programs in China" by the China Television Artists Association.
- The Spring Festival Special Program "Exposing Scams" was awarded the Second Prize in the Special Program Category of the 2003–2004 China Radio and Television Society Television Legal Program Award.
- It was ranked among the "Most Unforgettable Television Programs of the Past 25 Years" by viewers.
