Ming Gui abducts Liang Xiao and flees from the Tianji Palace. Along the way, they engage in a battle of wits and eventually arrive in Suzhou, where they encounter Liu Yingying, the Ninth Rulai Monk, Chu Xianliu, and other skilled masters involved in the "Pure Yang Iron Box" incident. They compete for the iron box, and Liang Xiao finally breaks free from Ming Gui, falling in love with Liu Yingying and learning the true whereabouts of the Pure Yang Iron Box. The two set out to steal the box but encounter Song Dynasty masters and the Yuan Dynasty Prince Tuoyun, who are hunting down the Yuan general Bo Yan. Driven by impulse, Liang Xiao saves Bo Yan, thus making enemies with the Southern Dynasty masters, including Yun Shu.
At Leigong Fortress, Liang and Liu successfully steal the iron box but are intercepted by Yun Shu, who disables Liang Xiao's martial arts skills. Stripped of his power, Liang Xiao is accidentally taken hostage by A Xue, the maid of Han Ningzi, Liu Yingying's senior sister. While Liu Yingying searches for Liang Xiao, she is injured by Leigong Fortress masters but saved by Yun Shu. Yun Shu falls in love with Liu Yingying, who, in an attempt to protect herself, pretends to be close to him. However, their conversation is overheard by nearby Liang Xiao, causing him immense emotional pain.
At this moment, Han Ningzi appears, holding Liang Xiao hostage to force Liu Yingying to hand over the iron box and take Liang Xiao away. Along the way, A Xue witnesses Liang Xiao's emotional turmoil and, moved by his kindness, develops feelings for him. Liang Xiao, still powerless, is locked in the "Hole of Heaven and Earth" by Han Ningzi. He secretly opens the Pure Yang Iron Box and uses its secret power to regain some of his martial arts skills. Eventually, he escapes the stone room and rescues the fallen A Xue.
Later, he is relentlessly pursued by both Han Ningzi and Ming Gui, and he flees all the way to Mount Hua.
