Doctor's answer:
Hello,Chronic pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) is a common and frequently occurring condition in the female reproductive system, caused by inadequate treatment of acute PID or poor patient constitution leading to prolonged and unresolved courses.
Its clinical manifestations include lower abdominal and lumbosacral pain, sometimes accompanied by a sensation of rectal fullness. Symptoms often worsen during exertion, after sexual intercourse, defecation, and before or after menstruation. It may also cause increased leukorrhea, excessive or irregular menstruation, and may be associated with dysmenorrhea. Primary or secondary infertility may also occur.
Chronic PID is often caused by factors such as infections after induced abortion, unsafe sexual practices, and poor menstrual hygiene. Diagnosis is based on medical history, symptoms, and physical examinations. In terms of treatment, single-modality therapy for chronic PID is often ineffective, and most cases require comprehensive treatment. Antibiotic therapy can be used, and in some cases, antibiotics are administered alongside dexamethasone. Oral dexamethasone (0.75 mg) may be taken three times daily. When discontinuing medication, gradual dosage reduction is recommended. Alternatively, a-? protease (5 mg) or hyaluronidase (1500 U) can be injected intramuscularly once every other day, with 7–10 doses constituting a course, to facilitate adhesion resolution and inflammation absorption. Additionally, topical treatments such as "Pain Relief for Pelvic Inflammation," "Women's Comfort," and "Cleansing Liquid" can be used. "Pain Relief for Pelvic Inflammation" primarily functions to clear heat, promote diuresis, regulate qi and relieve depression, activate blood circulation, detoxify, and soften and resolve hard masses.
