Xiaoxuan, born on August 24, 1979, faced an unhappy childhood due to family circumstances. Since childhood, Elva had a deep love for art, and upon graduating from high school, she fulfilled her dream by enrolling in the Taiwan Fenghuang Fine Arts School. After graduation, the young, brave, and independent Elva traveled alone to Vancouver, Canada, to further her studies in fashion design. The experience of studying abroad played a crucial role in Elva's musical journey. From that moment on, Elva's heart was filled with the dream of becoming an outstanding singer.
When Elva first arrived in Canada, she faced a completely new world without the company of her parents or friends. The outgoing Elva quickly made new friends in this unfamiliar place, happily studying her professional courses, and developed a taste and love for aesthetics and fashion. From that time on, Elva developed a strong interest in music. If you talk to her about music, she might pull out dozens of CDs she carries with her and share her thoughts on Western music with you. Elva's preference for Western music, as well as her love for genres like R&B and Soul, also began to take shape during this time.
Of course, life as a student abroad was not always filled with passion and joy. The loneliness and hardships she experienced helped Elva mature from a carefree, lively little girl into a more composed and steady individual. Today, in Elva's singing, we can hear both the innocence and liveliness of her youth and the reserved maturity she has since developed—perhaps all thanks to her experience of studying abroad.
By chance, Elva entered the music industry. At the time, a close friend wanted to participate in a singing competition held in Vancouver, so they formed a trio girl group together. To their surprise, the group achieved remarkable success in the competition and caught the attention of many industry professionals! This competition showcased Elva's musical potential, and as a result, a kind person suggested she return to Taiwan to pursue her career. Elva vaguely felt that singing was something fun, and she loved it very, very much. However, as a student, she believed her studies should come first.
After returning to Taiwan, Elva was discovered by the famous music producer Yao Qian and was taken to the Viking Records studio for a voice test. It was only then that Elva truly felt a deep desire in her heart: "If everyone could hear my voice, how wonderful that would be!"
During the first voice test, Elva chose an English song and a song by Cheng Xiumin. She sang and danced in the dance studio, but unfortunately, it did not meet expectations. However, Elva did not give up. After listening to suggestions and analyzing her strengths and weaknesses, she chose to perform Western music, especially R&B-style songs, during her second voice test. This left everyone present stunned—they had never expected a girl to have such a deep understanding of music. As a result, during the third meeting, the record company people no longer asked her to sing but instead spent time chatting with her. During the conversation, Elva expressed her strong pursuit of music.
