How to measure ovulation using a thermometer

Patient's question:

I want to get pregnant, but due to an ectopic pregnancy a few years ago, my left fallopian tube was removed. I have been unable to conceive since then. I have had hydrotubation, ultrasound, cervical exams, leukorrhea tests, and all other tests, and they have all come back normal. I now want to use a basal body temperature thermometer to track ovulation. How should I measure it? Additionally, what other tests do I need to undergo?

Doctor's answer:

Temperature monitoring for ovulation is usually done by measuring armpit temperature, which can be done with a regular thermometer. A regular thermometer can be placed in the mouth for measurement, but due to hygiene concerns, it is not recommended for general use. It is recommended that you use the armpit temperature measurement method. Although there may be changes in temperature during ovulation, relying on temperature measurement alone cannot determine if it is the ovulation period. It is necessary to monitor with an ultrasound to know if ovulation has occurred.
