Later, Emperor Renzong enfeoffed Bao Gong as a Direct Scholar of the Dragon Pool Pavilion and promoted him to Vice Director of the Military Secretariat. Stories of Bao Gong's legal judgments and cases have been widely circulated in China for thousands of years. Many novels and operas take his stories as themes, praising upright officials and punishing evil people, encouraging those in office to learn from Bao Gong and become humble, selfless, and renowned officials who are remembered through the ages.
