Publishing Date: 2005-10-20
Features: The Zizhi Tongjian is vast in volume, comprising a total of 294 chapters written in classical Chinese. Its chronological arrangement often lacks relevance between historical accounts within the same year, and the development of individual events inevitably becomes scattered. These factors present difficulties for modern readers. To address this, we have specially compiled the Zizhi Tongjian (Illustrated Edition). This book follows the original's chronological structure while organizing and editing the text in chronological order. It selects approximately 300 complete and independent stories, overcoming the original's scattered and disjointed narrative. In terms of language, it adopts colloquial Chinese that is more suitable for modern readers, making this classic work in the history of Chinese historiography accessible to the general public. Young readers can learn and appreciate the rich and profound cultural heritage of our nation through these vivid and compelling historical stories. The greatest feature of this book lies in its inclusion of over 1,000 precious photographs of historical artifacts and ruins, historical maps, portraits of emperors and officials, paintings of figures from different dynasties, as well as meticulously drawn illustrations that recreate historical scenes. These additions enhance the book's appeal. Reading history with illustrations makes it more authentic, intuitive, and comprehensive. It allows readers to engage with history in a relaxed, enjoyable, and thought-provoking way—making history truly a valuable treasure for everyone!
