Features: The road is a monument laid on the ground. The "Stilwell Road" is a victory monument symbolizing the joint efforts of the world peace and democracy camp to defeat Japanese fascism. On May 4, 1942, Japanese forces launched a sudden advance, occupying the mountainous areas of western Yunnan and northern Myanmar, achieving a strategic blockade to cut off China's external land transportation during the War of Resistance. In 1943, General Stilwell came to China with a self-sacrificing spirit, ready to be a "sacrificial offering," to coordinate the joint efforts of Chinese, American, British, Indian, and Burmese military and civilian forces to launch the Battle of Opening Roads in Northern Myanmar and Western Yunnan. In January 1945, as the Allied forces achieved a complete victory in the (Yunnan-Burma Counteroffensive Campaign), they also opened and recaptured the China-Burma-India International Highway. During the war, the (US-ChinaHigh Authorities) named this highway the "Stilwell Road" in honor of General Stilwell's outstanding contributions.
