Features: The title of this book is "A Preliminary History of the Guqin." This is partly because there is still a need for revision, and partly because there are plans for further compilation. Since this edition follows a chronological and period-based structure, many specialized topics are not suitable for concentrated discussion, such as: discussions on the guqin, schools of thought, musical forms, the development of performance techniques, and the relationship between guqin art and other forms of art. The birth of this book should first be credited to the Party's emphasis on guqin art. Since the founding of the country, the dedicated efforts of predecessors like Chai Fuxi have laid the foundation for this book; the outstanding performances of guqin masters such as Guan Pinghu and Wu Jinglue have opened the door to a deeper understanding of guqin art.
