Features: Yu Dafu (1896-1945) was a renowned romanticist writer, essayist, and poet in the history of modern Chinese literature. He was one of the main initiators of the "Creation Society" and had close ties with Lu Xun, Cheng Fangwu, Tian Han, Tao Jingsun, and others, collectively contributing to the development of Chinese new literature. In his early works, he vividly and candidly depicted the inner emotions of his protagonists, showcasing a distinct romantic literary style. He pioneered romantic literature in China, becoming one of the founders of the modern romantic literary tradition in the country. Although these works also incorporated elements of naturalism and other modernist literary techniques, romanticism remained their primary characteristic. The formation of Yu Dafu's romantic literary style was closely linked to his experiences in Japan, as modern Japanese romantic literature had a significant influence on him. It could be said that Japanese romantic literature adapted to his style, which bore a strong resemblance to Japanese romanticism, often characterized by a mood of "melancholy and disillusionment." This style also became an early feature of modern romantic literature in China.
