Features: The Shanghai Television Festival's "White Magnolia" International Television Forum, as one of the four main events of the Shanghai Television Festival, officially named its academic symposium as the "White Magnolia" International Television Forum in 2003. The forum, as an open platform, focuses on the latest trends in the international media industry, inviting global industry leaders to guide China's television industry. Adhering to the principle of "global topics, industry experience," the three major components of the International Television Forum—"'White Magnolia' Forum," "'White Magnolia' Report," and "'White Magnolia' Survey"—form a multi-layered structure, fulfilling the mission of "guiding China's television industry."
Shanghai Television Festival: Established in 1986, the Shanghai Television Festival is China's earliest international television festival, witnessing the development of China's television industrialization. Over the past two decades, the four main events of the Shanghai Television Festival—"White Magnolia" International Television Awards, International Film and Television Program Market, International Broadcasting and Film Equipment Exhibition, and "White Magnolia" International Television Forum—have grown into globally recognized brands. By 2005, the Shanghai Television Festival had successfully hosted 11 editions, attracting over 2,500 world-class television dramas and documentaries to participate. It has nurtured Asia's largest film and television program trading market, with annual transaction volumes nearing 1 billion RMB in recent years. Today, the Shanghai Television Festival has become an important international platform for world television programs entering China and Chinese television programs going global.
Nowadays, our lives offer more and more entertainment options, with a rich variety of television programs—Korean dramas, Japanese dramas, TVB shows, Taiwanese idol dramas, and domestic serial dramas—captivating audiences with their compelling plots. This book is a concise summary of past editions of the Shanghai Television Festival. It is divided into two parts: the first part is the "White Magnolia" Forum, and the second part is the "White Magnolia" Survey. The book explores future television trends and summarizes past experiences.
