Features: Chapters 1, 2, and 3 primarily introduce readers to the basics of computer simulation, including systems and models, fundamental methods and concepts for analyzing systems, basic principles of computer simulation, the basic composition and logic of simulation models, and an introduction to the computer simulation software ARENA. The discussion in the remaining chapters of the book focuses on both theoretical and practical aspects related to computer simulation. Chapters 4 and 6 emphasize the theory of non-discrete simulation input and output analysis. Chapter 4 introduces the types of simulation input variables and their numerical characteristics, as well as how to estimate the probability distribution of input variables and test distribution assumptions. In contrast, Chapter 6 focuses on the relevant theories and methods of computer simulation output analysis, including random output processes and related statistical analysis methods, such as confidence interval analysis of statistics, output analysis of finite-duration systems and infinite-duration systems (stationary systems), with an emphasis on the application of the cutoff method and the segmented method. Parts of Chapter 3 and Chapter 5 focus on the basic application modeling of non-discrete simulation, such as the determinism and randomness of resource capacity changes, the flow in individual manufacturing systems with different production routes, and very stable Poisson arrival processes, etc. Chapter 7 explains how to simulate material transportation in production systems, with a focus on transportation systems using mobile and fixed transport tools. Chapter 8 introduces common simulation analysis application problems, including the comparison of different plans (systems), the arrangement and selection of multiple plans, etc. Chapter 9 covers the generation of random numbers and random variables, as well as the relevant theories. Chapters 10 and 11 provide an in-depth introduction to the application of simulation in production and manufacturing systems, including batch processing, combination, and matching of individuals during flow, as well as logical control of individual flow within the system. The types of systems covered include assembly line manufacturing systems and production inventory systems. Chapter 12 briefly introduces the basic concepts, principles, and applications of continuous simulation. Chapter 13 discusses the functional testing of simulation models, the verification and evaluation of their effectiveness, as well as methods using correlation to reduce the variance of simulation samples and improve the accuracy of output analysis. Chapter 14 provides a concise summary of the book, introducing how to successfully apply computer simulation to solve practical problems, and offers a brief outlook on the research and future development of computer simulation technology. At the end of each chapter, corresponding exercises are provided to help readers consolidate and digest the content learned.
