Features: Translation courses are practical courses with a relatively high starting point and should be closely tied to actual practice. Translation courses are about practice—only through practice can one learn translation. Therefore, if translation textbooks are disconnected from reality, students will feel that what they have learned is just theoretical knowledge, unable to solve practical problems when they enter the workforce and start working as translators. To align with translation practice, this book presents translations of various types of original texts, including Japanese-to-Chinese and Chinese-to-Japanese. The materials are diverse, both practical and representative, while fully considering scientificity, knowledge, comprehensiveness, and systematicity. The entire book includes 90 complete original text passages of various genres and contents (see the appendix "List of Original Titles" at the back of the book). The book is divided into three levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. The beginner and intermediate levels focus on Japanese-to-Chinese translation, while the advanced level focuses on Chinese-to-Japanese translation. Due to the limitations of the original texts, efforts have been made to progress from simple to complex and from easy to difficult. The three levels consist of a total of 17 lessons, each comprising eight parts: original text, annotations, translation, translation tips, translation knowledge, discussion questions, skill training exercises, and reference answers for skill training. Among these, the translation tips and translation knowledge systematically and hierarchically explain translation theory and the techniques of Japanese-Chinese and Chinese-Japanese translation from the perspectives of translation engineering and the translation thinking process. In addition to serving as a textbook for university Japanese majors and graduate students, this book, as a highly practical work on translation theory and the techniques of Japanese-Chinese and Chinese-Japanese translation, is also available for reference and use by Japanese teachers, translation professionals, and a broad range of amateur Japanese learners and enthusiasts. The materials selected for this book are primarily based on the author's published translations over the past 30 years.
