Features: "The New Century Series of the History of Science" is a collaborative project jointly planned by the Institute of the History of Natural Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Liaoning Education Press. It aims to collect outstanding research achievements in the field of the history of science and promote academic development. Mr. He Bingyu is a renowned historian of science and an organizer and activist in the study of the history of Chinese science and technology abroad. He began researching the history of Chinese science in the early 1950s and collaborated with Dr. Joseph Needham three times to write the chapters on alchemy and gunpowder in The History of Science and Technology in China. At the invitation of Dr. Needham, he officially took over as Director of the Needham Research Institute in Cambridge in 1990. Over the past 50 years, he has published more than 110 papers in English, Chinese, and Japanese, and more than 20 monographs, making significant contributions to the history of Chinese astronomy, mathematics, chemistry, and the study of traditional science and divination. This collection includes 25 papers and 3 prefaces written by Mr. He Bingyu in Chinese on the history of Chinese science and technology.
