Features: The incidence and mortality rates of malignant tumors in China have significantly increased over the past 20 years. In some major cities in China, malignant tumors have become the leading cause of death, posing a major threat to public health and life. Globally, malignant tumors have also become a primary killer of humans. Both domestically and internationally, substantial human, material, and financial resources have been invested in research on malignant tumors, encompassing both basic and clinical studies. In recent years, research on malignant tumors has advanced rapidly, including etiology, genetic genes, molecular epidemiology, as well as improvements in traditional surgical, radiotherapeutic, and chemotherapeutic methods. Notably, the concept of multidisciplinary comprehensive treatment has been proposed and applied, along with the invention and successful clinical practice of new treatment methods and approaches. However, revolutionary progress has not yet been made in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of malignant tumors. The unknown areas and unresolved problems far outnumber the knowledge and solutions we have already acquired, making research on malignant tumors highly challenging and demanding while also offering vast development opportunities and prospects for success. This may be one of the reasons why an increasing number of medical students and students of life sciences are dedicating themselves to research on malignant tumors. To assist these aspiring young professionals in reviewing and preparing for postgraduate entrance examinations, we have compiled this "Essentials Series for Medical Graduate Entrance Examinations"—Oncology—for study and reference. This book consists of two main parts: Part I is the content essentials, which primarily organizes the key and essential content that candidates for graduate studies in oncology should master, based on the textbook Introduction to Oncology, edited by Zhu Xiangzeng and Jiang Guoliang (Fudan University Press, 2005). It also includes some new theoretical and clinical advancements. The italics listed in the book are topics that may be covered in postgraduate entrance examinations, hoping to aid everyone in their review. The second part is past papers, simulated questions, and key answers, designed to help candidates understand the format and methods of the examination, providing a clear path forward.
