Features: Franz Joseph Haydn (1732–1809) was a famous Austrian composer, revered as the "Father of Symphony." This concerto is one of his representative works and also one of the important masterpieces in the cello repertoire. Together with Schumann's Cello Concerto in A minor and Dvo?ák's Cello Concerto in B minor, it is highly regarded as one of the "Three Great Cello Concertos." The work was composed in 1783, allegedly for his friend and student Kraft. The cello solo parts of this concerto are technically quite complex, encompassing a wide range of techniques within the three movements. The music is magnificent and elegant, occasionally revealing Mozart's style.
