How long does a corpus luteum cyst last?

Patient's question:

I have been married to my wife for over a year, but we haven't been able to conceive yet. My parents have been urging me about it. Recently, I've been experiencing abdominal pain, delayed menstruation, and occasional nausea and vomiting. I suspect I might have a corpus luteum cyst. What kind of help do I need: How long does a corpus luteum cyst last?

Doctor's answer:

A normal corpus luteum is a cystic structure that can slightly reduce the size of the ovary. If the cystic corpus luteum persists or grows, or if a corpus luteum hematoma contains a large amount of blood, which is then reabsorbed, it can lead to a corpus luteum cyst.
After a normal menstrual period, the ovulation phase ends. A corpus luteum cyst is formed after bleeding in the ovary, and it can also resolve on its own. These are physiological cysts that reappear with the menstrual cycle or disappear on their own. If the cyst persists upon repeated examinations, medication treatment may be required.
Generally, corpus luteum cysts during pregnancy do not require special intervention. Avoid strenuous exercise, sexual intercourse, and strong abdominal impacts. Do not consume foods or cold foods like ice cream and iced drinks.
