Features: This book is a revised version of my doctoral dissertation. The entire process, from topic selection to data collection and writing, was conducted under the meticulous guidance and kind care of my supervisor, Professor Xu Jialu. After revision, my esteemed mentor took the time to review it and wrote a preface, for which I am deeply grateful! During the data collection phase, I visited Hangzhou, Wenzhou, Rui'an, Shanghai, and Nanjing three times. Many gentlemen provided me with great convenience and assistance. They are: Professor Xue Ke, Professor Wang Yunlu, and Dr. Shi Guanghui of Zhejiang University; former of Yuhailou Museum, Mr. Pan Zhishan, Director Li Ren, and Deputy Director Chen Qinyi; Researcher Jin Baidong, Director of Cultural Relics Department of Wenzhou Municipal Bureau of Cultural Relics; Deputy Director Hou Boliang and Researcher Hu Zhusheng of Wenzhou Museum; Deputy Director Zheng Xiaoxiao and Researcher Chen Fanan of Wenzhou Library; Deputy Director Chen Fanan of Wenzhou Normal University Library; Mr. Zhang Xianwen and Mr. Yu Tianshu, scholars of Wenzhou; Deputy Director Wang Shiwei and Director of Ancient Books Department, Professor Chen Xianxing of Shanghai Library. Among them, Mr. Xue Ke, Mr. Hu Zhusheng, Mr. Zhang Xianwen, and Mr. Pan Zhishan provided my research with various valuable materials. Additionally, Minister Lin Kefu and Director Xu Xiaoni of the Publicity Department of Wenzhou Municipal Committee, and Vice Mayor Xiang Likè of Rui'an City also provided strong support. Mr. Xu Zhiping, then Secretary of Rui'an Municipal Committee and now Deputy Secretary of Wenzhou Municipal Committee, and Mr. Qian Jianmin, then Mayor of Rui'an City and now Secretary of Rui'an Municipal Committee, also showed great concern for the writing of this paper. During the conceptualization phase of the thesis, Professors Guo Xiliang, Li Jianguo, and Chen Fu, as well as my senior classmates, Professors Zhu Xiaojian and Wang Shaohua, all proposed excellent suggestions. At the defense meeting, the chair of the defense committee, Professor Guo Xiliang, and the committee members, Professors Li Lingpu, Li Jianguo, Su Baorong, and Chen Fu, all provided many constructive suggestions for the revision of this paper.
