Features: This book provides an in-depth and systematic elaboration on the historical development process of the five Central Asian countries—Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan. The book is organized into four parts: Ancient (before the 15th century), Modern (15th–early 20th century), Soviet Period, and Post-Independence of the Five Central Asian Countries. It offers comprehensive and detailed analyses of each country, as well as a comprehensive study of the historical formation and development of ethnic groups such as Kazakhs and Uzbeks mentioned in the book. It exposes and criticizes Russia's conquest of Central Asia since the 19th century and provides a relatively comprehensive discussion of the historical processes of the Central Asian countries during the Soviet period, which has been less studied domestically. The book fully utilizes historical materials in Chinese and Russian, as well as relevant research findings in Russian and English. With a spirit of science and pragmatism, it presents the perspectives of Chinese scholars on many issues in the history of the five Central Asian countries. This book was written in accordance with the instructions of Comrade Hu Sheng and is the first academic work in China to systematically study the five Central Asian countries, filling the research gap in this field.
