Features: This book is one of the "Mechanical and Electrical Drawing Series." Based on current national standards, it outlines the basic knowledge of pipeline engineering drawings, the development and surveying drawings of pipeline components, structural drawings of pipe materials, pipe fittings, pipeline flanges, pipeline valves, pipeline threaded fasteners, pipe support structures, and pipeline accessories. It covers the reading of pipeline engineering drawings, heating, ventilation, and plumbing construction drawings, welding drawings, construction drawings, and steel structure construction drawings, basically including the knowledge and skills required for reading pipeline engineering drawings. This book can be used as a training and self-study textbook for pipeline installation and maintenance personnel.
[Preface] Drawings are the language of technical communication in the engineering field, playing an irreplaceable role in engineering. Engineers need to express design ideas, understand design concepts, and organize production and construction, all of which require learning to draw and read drawings, especially reading drawings. Given the importance of reading drawings, Chemical Industry Press has organized the publication of the "Mechanical and Electrical Drawing Series," including "Mechanical Drawing," "Electrical Drawing," "Instrumentation Drawing," and "Pipeline Drawing," with the aim of helping readers. This book is "Pipeline Drawing."
Pipeline engineering consists of pipeline components and pipeline support elements, used to transport, distribute, mix, separate, discharge, measure, control, or stop the flow of fluids. Pipeline engineering drawings are general terms for drawings drawn according to projection principles or relevant regulations and include necessary technical descriptions. A set of pipeline engineering construction drawings contains a wide range of knowledge, involving mechanical drawing, technical drawing, fluid mechanics, metal materials, welding, civil engineering, plumbing, national standards, national industrial standards, and national regulations. Therefore, drawings are also commonly referred to as the common written language of the engineering community.
On pipeline engineering construction drawings, only the names, quantities, materials, adopted standards, and construction specifications of the pipes, pipe fittings, flanges, bolted connections, gaskets, valves, and other components required for pipeline construction are provided. While the related structures, working principles, connection techniques, welding specifications, and construction requirements can only be understood through relevant materials and knowledge. This book primarily explains knowledge based on reading pipeline engineering drawings.
Chapter 1: Introduction to Pipeline Engineering Drawings
This chapter explains the composition of pipeline engineering drawings, the nominal diameter and nominal pressure of pipeline engineering components, industrial pipeline color coding, common terms in pipeline engineering drawings, the classification of pipeline engineering, and the reading of common materials in pipeline engineering.
Chapter 2: Reading Pipeline Engineering Drawings
This chapter explains pipeline and equipment symbols and examples, and the key points for reading pipeline construction drawings, petrochemical pipeline construction drawings, and boiler pipeline construction drawings.
Chapter 3: Reading Heating, Ventilation, and Plumbing Construction Drawings
This chapter explains the reading of heating construction drawings, ventilation engineering construction drawings, and plumbing construction drawings.
Chapter 4: Pipeline Component Development and Surveying Drawings
This chapter explains the development drawings of horsehoes, shrimp shells, three-way pipes, eccentric pipes, wall thickness treatment for development and cutting, and pipeline engineering surveying drawings.
Chapter 5: Reading Pipe Material and Pipe Fitting Drawings
This chapter explains the structural drawings of metal pipe materials, non-metallic pipe materials, lined pipes, and common pipe fittings.
Chapter 6: Pipeline Flange Structural Drawings
This chapter explains the flange standard system, types, and sealing surface forms, as well as national standards, mechanical industry standards, chemical industry standards, and petrochemical industry standards.
Chapter 7: Pipeline Valve Structural Drawings
This chapter provides structural drawings of gate valves, globe valves, throttle valves, butterfly valves, check valves, ball valves, diaphragm valves, plug valves, plunger valves, safety valves, pressure-reducing valves, and drain valves.
Chapter 8: Pipeline Thread Fasteners
This chapter explains the representation of threads, the annotation methods of ordinary threads and trapezoidal threads on drawings, pipe threads, the drawing of thread fasteners in assembly drawings, and pipeline connection fasteners.
Chapter 9: Pipe Supports and Pipeline Accessories Drawings.
Chapter 10: Reading Welding Drawings
This chapter explains the basics and illustrations of welding, welding symbols, welding groove size drawings, pipeline welds, welding rod consumption calculations, pipeline welding specifications, and pipeline welding defect illustrations.
Chapter 11: Reading Construction Drawings
This chapter explains the reading of construction drawing examples and the reading of industrial building construction drawings.
Chapter 12: Reading Steel Structure Construction Drawings
This chapter explains the splicing and connection of beams, the reading of steel structure column heads and column feet structural drawings.
This book basically covers the basic knowledge and skills required for reading pipeline engineering drawings. This book was organized, written, and compiled by Hu Yifu of Jilin Chemical Industry College. Chapter 4 was written by Jiang Peidong, Chapter 5 was written by Yang Mei, and the remaining chapters were written by Hu Yifu. Due to the limitations of the authors' knowledge and experience, omissions are inevitable. We sincerely welcome readers to point out any errors or suggestions.
