Patient's question:
Doctor: Hello, I had my period on November 21st. Starting December 1st, I have been using ovulation tests every day, but there has been no indication of ovulation. On December 3rd, I had an ultrasound at the hospital, and they said there were no follicles. I would like to ask, does this mean I am not ovulating? What tests should I do now? Thank you!Doctor's answer:
The date of ovulation for women is generally about 14 days before the next menstrual period. After the egg is released from the ovary, it can survive in the fallopian tube for 1-2 days, waiting for fertilization; male sperm can maintain fertilizing ability in the female reproductive tract for 2-3 days, so sexual intercourse during the days before and after ovulation increases the likelihood of conception. For safety, the 5 days before ovulation, the 4 days after ovulation, and ovulation day itself are collectively referred to as the fertile window. Because sexual intercourse during the fertile window increases the likelihood of conception, it is also called the "dangerous period" or "high-risk period." Generally, arranging sexual activity during the fertile window can improve the chances of conception.
