Features: The international insurance market typically categorizes insurance business into two major types: life insurance and non-life insurance. As an important branch of non-life insurance, foreign-related insurance provides insurance coverage for a country's foreign economic trade, foreign economic cooperation, foreign investment, and other various economic exchange activities. Compared to domestic property insurance business, foreign-related insurance has its own distinctive characteristics. Its insured parties and insurance subjects involve international scope, its business techniques exhibit stronger internationalism, and it strives to align with international standards in terms of insurance clauses, premium setting, and claims handling. In November 2001, China officially became a member of the World Trade Organization, integrating its economy more comprehensively into the global economic integration trend. The opening-up in various fields has been continuously expanding, and foreign trade and economic cooperation have shown deepening and diversification. China's foreign-related insurance has ushered in new development opportunities and broad prospects, while also facing fiercer competition and new challenges. In this context, more and more people are eager to understand the basic principles and operations of foreign-related insurance, which is precisely the author's motivation for writing this book. To facilitate readers in learning the content of this book and grasping the key points of each chapter, the book summarizes the key concepts of each chapter at the beginning and provides review questions at the end of each chapter. To better integrate basic insurance theory with practical skills, numerous case studies are interspersed throughout the book to help readers master how to flexibly and accurately apply basic insurance theory and clauses through analyzing the surface of cases, thereby providing analyses and interpretations. This also makes the content of the book more enriching and engaging. The book is divided into three parts. The first part covers the basic theory of foreign-related insurance, introducing the fundamental theories and knowledge of foreign-related insurance, including the basic concepts of risk and insurance, insurance contracts, the origin and development history of insurance, and insurance principles. The second part covers the practice of foreign-related marine insurance, introducing the scope of marine insurance coverage and business types, including marine insurance contracts, marine risks, marine losses, cargo transportation insurance, and ocean-going vessel insurance. The third part covers the practice of foreign-related non-marine insurance, introducing the business types of non-marine insurance, including enterprise property insurance, engineering insurance, transportation vehicle insurance, liability insurance, and credit and surety insurance. Chapters 1 to 10 and Chapter 15 were written by Gu Hanmei, while Chapters 11 to 14 were co-authored by Gu Hanmei and Wang Fang. The entire book was reviewed and finalized by Gu Hanmei. To ensure the book accurately and timely reflects the latest achievements in foreign-related insurance theory and practice, the authors referred to a large number of insurance books and website literature, and the authors would like to express their gratitude to the original authors of the relevant works. During the writing and publication process of this book, teachers such as Xu Xiaowei, Nie Qing, and Shen Yuliang from Shanghai International Trade College provided strong support and encouragement, as well as many constructive suggestions and opinions, for which the authors express sincere thanks. I would also like to thank Mr. Xu Huiping from Fudan University Press, whose assistance made it possible for this book to be published in such a short time. This book can serve as a textbook for students majoring in insurance, international trade, and international transportation in higher education institutions, and can also be used by insurance company professionals and a broad readership interested in foreign-related insurance.
