The profound remarks of the sages have inspired waves of enthusiasm among young people to explore the potential of mathematics. To meet the needs of young people in exploring the mysteries of the mathematical kingdom, we have specially invited experienced coaches from mathematics olympiad schools in Beijing and Jiangsu to compile this set of primary school "21st Century Gold Medal Olympiad Mathematics Competition Textbooks." This set of textbooks has the following characteristics:
(1) Concise explanation and practice, clear themes. Each grade is divided into two volumes, each volume is organized into several lessons based on different themes. In the example explanations, a special section called "This is How to Think" is included to guide reasonable thinking, grasp the key to solving problems, and focus on training exercises that inspire thinking and strengthen the ability to transform knowledge into skills. This provides a systematic and comprehensive demonstration platform for students participating in various mathematics competitions. This is the unique feature that distinguishes this book from other similar textbooks.
(2) Interwoven structure, step-by-step progression. The grades form a spiral progressive framework, vertically interconnected and horizontally independent. Lower grades use a picture-book approach to cultivate mathematical emotions; middle grades help students initially grasp reasoning and judgment using mathematical language; grades 5 and 6 use reasoning, judgment, analysis, and summarization to improve the ability to solve practical problems using basic principles. (3) Practical and efficient, highly forward-looking. We have always been concerned with the latest trends in mathematics education and the new directions of "Olympiad" competition questions. We have introduced situational problems, exploratory problems, open-ended problems, and research-type problems. For different types of problems, we appropriately add "summary," "explanation," or "clever discovery" to help guide and organize thoughts. Selected examples and training exercises quote competition questions from various parts of the country, such as "Olympiad" and "Hua Luojiang Mathematics," and include inspirational and instructive classroom teaching.
